SAN JOSE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Flight times about 25 minutes from San Jose. About 3 flights a day
QUEPOS – in the North

Driving time from Quepos to Dominical – now about 25 minutes on new road.
PALMAR SUR airfield near Cortes (Drake Bay area) - 40 mins by good road -
1 or 2 flights a day to San Jose

BY CAR FROM SAN JOSE -
3 to 6 hours depending on which way you come and the state of the roads.
The OLD Pan Am Highway on the MOUNTAIN ROAD - the Cerro de la Muerte and climbs up briefly to almost 4000m before reaching San Isidro (or Perez Zeledon) the 2nd most important town in Costa-Rica.
Long distance buses travel this route quiet a few times a day, heading to the Panama border.
Mini Buses can collect you from your hotel in San Jose, or possibly from the international airport and deliver you to the nearest hotel in Dominical. They usually leave twice a day. Reservations are needed. Check with the Uvita Information centre – see Links
The down side of this route is having to cross San Jose, where there are hardly any sign postes.
Having reached San Isidro over the mountain, head West down to the Pacific and Dominical.
This short journey usually takes an hour going over the most amazing landscape.
Once in Dominical you head South towards Uvita and Puerto Cito.
The COAST ROAD, via Jaco and Quepos.
A new toll road has recently been constructed, making the journey much quicker.
To take this road, you pass the International Airport and head towards San Ramon – Puntarenas and JACO.
There are now 2 roads, the Toll road and the old scenic road.
At Jaco, you will notice all the new tourist developement taking place along the coast.
Before arriving in Dominical you will pass through the Private Wildlife Reserve of Hacienda Baru before heading South over the new bridge to Uvita and the Panama border.
Villa Vista de San Martin can be reached by 4 different mountain roads, but a 4×4 vehicle is an absolute necessity.
CARGO SHIPS dock in Limon on the Caribbean coast and can take passengers
