Welcome

BIENVENIDO TO THE PACIFIC COAST OF COSTA-RICA

Villa Vista de San Martin, our luxury vacation home, is perched some 400m in the cool and breezy Escaleras Hills, with not a neighbour in sight.
The  totally unspoilt view overlooks the Pacific Ocean, Caño Island and the Corcovado National Park on the OSA Peninsula.

We are Ideal for all those on holiday who really want to get away from civilization.

Just chill out on a hammock and let the jungle entertain you !

Most days, the howler monkies start their concert at dawn, frequently followed by the toucans and the busy parroquites. Whereas the  white-faced monkies  silently chew their berries and the sloths go about their slow business of tree crawling. The humming birds find the hibiscus surrounding the pool, a useful bar and the butterflies are just stunningly beautiful.

“Every day a play in Costa-Rica”

Dominical, our nearest little town, is a mere 15 minutes by 4×4 down the mountain. Nothing much has changed here in last 10 years. Tatooed surfers and beach bums roam the unpaved roads and campers still spend the night on the beach beneath the stars and coconut palm trees.

With the arrival of the 21st century, a few more restaurants, bars, souvenir shops, bakery and medical facilities have opened. San Clemente, the original beach bar with TV, is still acting as the  Post Office. For those yearing to learn how to surf and to speak Spanish, schools have established themselves. There is  no need to drive over an hour to a bank, Banco de Costa Rica opened a small branch  with an ATM machine, in the Plaza Pacifica near the Supermarket.

On Dominical beach, famous for all year round surfing, the Life Guards have graduated from a hammock to a tall look-out seat and drive jet skis to come to a rescue. There are miles upon miles of wild, deserted beaches, but few places where you can swim without the danger of being taken by a rip tide. For gentle swimming we suggest the beaches at Uvita, a little further South.

This sleepy little community is rapidly becoming one of the fastest growing places in the Southern Puntarenas Zone, catering more to the Ticos (locals) than Gringos (North Americans, Europeans). Larger supermarkets, open 7 days a week, a pharmacy, several garages, gas station, beauty shop, lots of restaurants, furniture shops, hardware store, internet cafes, and about 5 banks are all now within easy reach.

An expanding town would not be complete without an All Weather Omni Sports Stadium, built by a local British-Gringo, where the local farmers market is held on Saturday mornings.
